AMI Lifecycle

Zabbix has a very strict update policy, which means that every few months it stops supporting the stable version of that moment, and it is necessary to update the major version (with the problems that this may imply) in order to continue having support.

Imaxe understands that, sometimes, it is very difficult to maintain such a strict life cycle, so we have designed a life cycle policy for our AMIs that, keeping as much as possible the compatibility with the Zabbix life cycle, offers our users the best existing support for Zabbix.

Zabbix versions

Currently, Zabbix offers two different versions of its software:

  • Standard Version: Includes the latest changes and features, but does not have LTS support.
  • LTS version:** Includes the latest changes and features at the time of release, and also has LTS support.

Non-LTS Standard version support

In order for new customers to appreciate the benefits they will soon be able to use in their LTS versions, we will always keep an AMI of the latest Standard version operational, and with all the additional features operational.

The version of the AMI will increase as new versions are released, and the version number of Zabbix will change as it increases.

LTS version support

As long as possible, AMIs generated from LTS versions will be maintained, and will be updated, both at the operating system and additional features level, every 3 months.

Once it is not feasible for technical or security reasons to maintain an active AMI, it will be disabled, and all users will receive a notice from AWS, indicating the most appropriate new version for them.

In addition, support will be provided for migration between versions whenever possible.
